The Fondation Cartier has invited David Lynch, Patti Smith and Takeshi Kitano, together with a number of mathematicians in the exhibition “Mathematics: To Beautiful Elsewhere”. It will host a dialogue between artists and mathematicians in which must translate the lessons of these last accerlas more accessible and attractive to.
Lynch will present an installation that consists of a dome on whose surface will be projected three animations inspired by talks that the director held with several mathematicians, mainly with Russian Misha Gromov.
One of the animated lessons of Lynch is a dissertation on the nature of the fire from mathematical formulas. Another shows the process of the birth of the universe, also approached from the perspective of numbers and, At last, the third part will expose a library with some of the most important scientific works. Three animations will be bilingual by the composer, also us, Patti Smith.
The exhibition will be open to the public from the 21 October of 2011 to the 21 March of 2012.
