The English newspaper The Guardian has drawn up a list with the best 40 Directors who remain active. And the best stand of all is David Lynch, it reaches the first position
This is what they say about it:
After all the debate, No one could criticize the conclusion that David Lynch is the most important filmmaker of the era. Providing a gateway to the collective subconscious, evoked in tales such as Blue Velvet dreams, Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive is by turns frightening, desperate, revealing and wild. Nobody makes films like David Lynch. He is our ghostly guides through a world of dwarfs dancing, fatal women and small blue boxes that can (or not) contain all the answers. We do not want to live in places that leads. Somehow we suspect that we do.
Finally a numerical assessment of different aspects is made, with a maximum of 20 points per section for a total of 100:
Substance: 17
Look: 18
Art: 18
Originality: 19
Intelligence: 17
TOTAL: 89 points
Lynch is flanked on the list by Martin Scorsese (88 points) and the Coen brothers (86 points). In it also are directors of the stature of Steven Sodenbergh, Terrence Malick, David Cronenberg or Pedro Almodovar among many others.
